Blued of DigitalPoint forum, says that base from his experience in the UK, if you have a site which ends .org.uk vs a site which ends .co.uk with the same number of backlinks with the same anchor text, then the .co.uk will appear above it for that associated search term.

I laugh at people who think domain extensions don’t matter. Most search engines treat .info like crap. I don’t know if it’s because most of them are spam sites or what but just try getting a .info page to rank. The dot com with the same amount of content, links etc will rank twice as fast. The .info may hardly ever achieve anything at all. Google treats .info like the turd that won’t flush.
